Lately, I’ve been making lists of books and checking them twice. Do I think I’m Santa Claus? No! I’m making lists of books to share with friends on the bookish social media sensation Riffle.
What is Riffle?
Riffle is a social media site for book lovers that had Publisher’s Weekly asking in a recent article “Could Riffle be the Pinterest of Book Discovery”? With a clean design and beautiful feed that allows you to see what your friends are reading and lists of books they recommend, I am like a kid in a candy shop every time I wonder head over to Riffle. Riffle is currently invitation only, but I have a special link to offer my readers. The first 200 people to click here will be able to make their very own Riffle account.
Riffle allows users to share lists of books and book recommendations via Twitter and Facebook. You can also link to your blog on your Riffle page. The no-fuss design makes makes it ideal for book bloggers (or any voracious reader for that matter) looking for a Pinterest-like experience with a focus on books.
When users sign up for Riffle, they have the option to choose an area of expertise. Readers can sign up for genre specific expertise such as Fiction, Autobiography/Memoir, and Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, etc. The books you share on your profile that fall within your area of expertise are not only shared with your connections but also with readers across Riffle that you may not be connected with yet. So basically, readers become influential in the genre of their choice and increase chances of gaining followers by sharing books within their “expert genre.”
One of the really cool features on Riffle is the way the site spotlights book lists. Users are encouraged to make and share lists of their favorite books. For example, I’ve made lists with titles like Time Travel Fiction and Coming Soon: Mystery/Thriller Novels Coming Out In Jan./Feb. 2013. Lists show up in your friends’ home feeds. Also, if you make a list within your area of expertise it will show up in users’ home feeds across the site. My area of expertise is Mystery/Thriller/Suspense, so I know if I make a list specific to that category it will be shared with a wider audience
Since signing up for Riffle a few weeks ago it has become my favorite way to share books with friends. Click here if you’d like to sign up for Riffle today!
